Final Fantasy XVI is set in the war-torn realm of Valisthea, a land shaped by towering Mothercrystals and the aether they provide. Players follow Clive Rosfield, a former Dominant-in-service turned vengeance-driven warrior, as nations clash over dwindling magical resources and the Eikons — god-like primal forces bound to a chosen few — awaken across the continent.
Combat is real-time and action-driven, blending fast, combo-based swordplay with the spectacle of massive Eikon-versus-Eikon clashes. Clive can switch between multiple Eikon ability sets on the fly, chaining ranged, melee, and area attacks against Valisthea's armies and monstrous threats alike.
This Deluxe Edition adds a set of physical collectibles beyond the base game: a SteelBook case featuring exclusive Clive Rosfield artwork, a reversible cover, and a cloth map of Valisthea — a step up from the standard edition's disc-only release. Note: despite "16th" branding sometimes used by resellers, this refers to the game's numeral (Final Fantasy XVI) rather than a franchise anniversary; there is no separate official "16th Anniversary Edition."
