System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is Nightdive Studios' modernization of the 1999 sci-fi horror classic. Waking from cryo-sleep aboard the derelict starship Von Braun, players build out a soldier with cybernetic implants and psionic abilities to survive hybrid mutants and the schemes of the rogue AI SHODAN, exploring the ship deck by deck as the story of what happened to its crew unravels.
The remaster rebuilds the game's visuals, cutscenes, and character models on the KEX Engine, with support for up to 120fps on PS5 and a revamped cross-platform co-op mode that lets PC and console players team up. It keeps the original's branching skill system — choosing between OSA, Marine, or Navy training — while smoothing out two and a half decades of rough edges.
