The sun has vanished, leaving the world in permanent night where zombies and the living now share the same darkness. Gloomy is a young zombie boy who has kept a piece of his humanity, marked by softly glowing eyes; Nena is a determined girl raised under the strict watch of her zealot uncle, a preacher who hunts the undead and keeps children locked away for their own safety. When Nena breaks free to seek out Gloomy, the two form an unlikely bond and set out together to uncover why the sun disappeared.
Gloomy Eyes is a single-player co-op puzzle adventure told across a series of diorama-like stages, with players switching between Gloomy and Nena to combine their differing strengths. Gloomy is powerful but harmed by light, while Nena is quick, resourceful, and able to move freely in daylight, and progress depends on using both characters' abilities together to solve environmental puzzles and slip past danger. The game is narrated by Colin Farrell and adapts the world of the acclaimed stop-motion animated short and web series of the same name.
