Stranded in a scorched wasteland after the warlord Scabrous Scrotus, son of Immortan Joe, destroys his car and leaves him for dead, former highway patrolman Max Rockatansky allies with Chumbucket, a hunchbacked mechanic convinced Max was sent to help him build the ultimate vehicle. Together they set out to construct the Magnum Opus and escape toward the fabled Plains of Silence, battling Scrotus's forces along the way.
Developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mad Max is an open-world action game built around vehicular combat, with players ramming, harpooning, and gunning down enemy vehicles from behind the wheel of the Magnum Opus. The car can be extensively upgraded with scavenged parts affecting armor, speed, and weaponry. Away from the driver's seat, Max fights on foot using a free-flowing melee combat system, and players can clear enemy strongholds and complete side activities to reduce threat levels across the wasteland's open regions.
