Martha Is Dead is a first-person psychological thriller set in 1944 Tuscany, in the final years of the Second World War. When Martha is found drowned in the lake near her family's estate, her twin sister Giulia takes on her identity, and the search for the truth about her death blurs the line between reality, local superstition and the horrors of the war.
Developed by Italian studio LKA and published by Wired Productions, the story-driven game has no traditional combat. It focuses on exploring the estate and the surrounding countryside, period photography with a working camera and darkroom, and puppet-theatre sequences. The PlayStation version contains some edited scenes compared with other platforms.
