A remake of the celebrated 2004 GameCube RPG, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door sends Mario to the port town of Rogueport in search of a legendary treasure sealed behind the Thousand-Year Door. Guided by a map fragment and joined by a rotating cast of paper partners, Mario descends through seven distinct chapters, each with its own setting, cast, and twist on the story, while the sinister Shadow Sirens and X-Nauts scheme in the background.
The game pairs turn-based RPG combat — where perfectly timed button presses boost attacks and defense — with stage-play presentation, audience-reaction mechanics in battle, and light platforming and puzzle-solving as Mario flips between 3D exploration and paper-thin transformations. This remaster refreshes the visuals and adds quality-of-life updates while keeping the original's turn structure, partner abilities, and chapter-based storytelling intact.
